Work diary
As part of your appraisal, you may have to provide a record of the work you have done and to discuss this work (including your contributions) with senior lawyers. Consider keeping a work diary from day 1, as it may be difficult to remember the range of work you have completed 3-6 months down the line. Also keep a record of who you have worked for, as you may need to ask a range of people to provide feedback as part of your appraisal process. However, do not forget about confidentiality. If you include confidential information in your work diary (client names, specific details about client matters etc.), then perhaps don’t take it outside the office. Some matters might even need to be kept confidential within the firm, to avoid potential conflicts of interest arising.
