What did the interview involve?      

I was required to answer five questions. It was very structured.

Which questions were you asked?

• Why did you choose law?
• What made you apply to Anderson Strathern?
• Tell me about a time you were in a difficult situation?
• What is your greatest strength?
• What makes you stand out from the other candidates?

What was the outcome?                                                  

I received an email a few weeks later to inform me that I had been unsuccessful. 

Do you have any specific advice on how to prepare?

Remember that the interviewer may not have read your application, so be prepared to be asked those questions again.  

Identify the key qualities of the firm and try to embed them in your answers. This will help you if you're thrown an unexpected question.  

Understand the key skills and expectations required of a trainee. In one of my answers, I talked about time management and related this to the role of a summer intern which seemed to go down well.
