What attracts you to this firm?

My experiences abroad have provided me with a breadth and diversity of thinking and an ability to empathise with a diverse range of people and circumstances. This interest has ensured my focus has been on international firms. My research has shown how international and diverse the work at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath can be, and this immediately ensured my interest.

Meaningful and challenging work for trainees and the chance to experience cultural osmosis through actual time with a range of fee-earners made your firm stand out. My most rewarding experiences at work have always involved collaborating with a variety of colleagues with different strengths and ways of thinking.

I am still beginning my study of law, and while I do have some pre-existing interests I am flexible as to where I may specialise. The range of specialties that your London office can boast of convinced me that yours would be a firm where I could find an area of law I was truly capable of thriving in.

Everything I have seen about the legal industry in the last few years has highlighted the importance of a firm being adaptable and ensuring employees can thrive. Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath’s reputation in these areas is excellent, and I was very impressed by the training initiatives your firm boasts.

I am someone who values every opportunity to expand my horizons or develop myself, and it is clear that Faegre Drinker would be an incredible place to make that happen.

Please give brief details of any interests including hobbies and sports.

The interest which has probably had the most significant impact on my life has been my love of travel and experiencing new cultures. Over the last few years in Japan and Taiwan I have been able to gain a wealth of new experiences. I have learned to scuba dive, gone hiking up volcanoes and across tropical islands and met fascinating people from across the world. Through this I have made amazing friends and cemented my enjoyment of new and often challenging experiences.

When at home, I often enjoy socialising with friends, both here and back in Asia. I regularly have group calls with friends in [redacted country] to catch up or enjoy a games night. I attend a weekly pub quiz, which we won last week. I also enjoy cinema, and go most weekends with a few friends to see the latest movies.  I attend a weekly park run and depending on the weather I also enjoy going hiking or on walks in the surrounding areas as well.

I have participated in a variety of events at the University of Law, including proceeding to the final elimination round in their 2021 Commercial Awareness Challenge and competing in the Mooting competition.

I have completed the Linklaters and Slaughter and May Virtual Experience Programs on Forage, and also participated in the Linklaters Pitch for Change competition.

I am a Student Representative for my GDL class, and have recently taken part in both a mock trial and negotiating exercise with students from across the campus.

I have volunteered as part of a Triage program and a Small Business Advice Line with the university, in both cases interviewing clients and then reporting a summary of their answers to a solicitor.

I attended networking events such as the LawCareersNetLive London 2021 conference and have marshalled in person at a Crown Court and virtually at an Employment Tribunal.
