NOTE: Accutrainee offers 2 routes to apply for its TC: the direct TC route and the scholarship application route. Both routes follow the same format and procedure, but the scholarship application route is for candidates from minority and/or less-advantaged backgrounds. As they have many test/interview stages (the attention to detail test, HR interview, presentation, commercial interview, competency interviews etc.), they only require a cover letter for both routes.

Dear Recruitment Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Accutrainee Scholarship Programme 2024. I am particularly drawn to Accutrainee’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, which aligns closely with my own convictions. I believe that the Scholarship Programme will provide me with the opportunity to break down the barriers that often hinder candidates from underrepresented groups.
As a woman of Asian descent with neuro-disability, I have faced challenges in my education and career journey. I am diagnosed with pituitary apoplexy, a condition involving a small brain tumour located in my pituitary gland. This condition has presented me with symptoms, such as sudden, intense headaches, which at times disrupted my ability to concentrate and focus. When taking my LPC exams, I encountered a significant challenge related to my condition. Despite this challenge, I was able to push through and achieve an outstanding score of 83%.
My previous experience applying for a training contract at [redacted] allowed me to witness first-hand the political reality within the legal industry. Although I received a high appraisal and was among the highest-scoring vac schemers, the offer remained elusive. The feedback I received from the graduate recruitment team was rather vague, emphasising a focus on ‘quantity over quality’, which was a departure from a typical emphasis on quality in the field. It left me searching for actionable improvements to my performance, but I found little constructive guidance. This experience served as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by candidates from diverse backgrounds, such as mine, and the disparities that persist. Therefore, the Accutrainee Scholarship Programme will represent an opportunity to break down the barriers that often hinder candidates like me from underrepresented groups.
Despite facing challenges in my previous application, I have always remained dedicated to my career ambitions. My commitment, resilience, and the exceptional circumstances I have encountered, because of my cultural background and race, have only strengthened my resolve to succeed in the legal field. The Scholarship Programme's commitment to addressing these obstacles therefore resonates with my own aspirations, making it an ideal platform for individuals who have faced similar challenges.
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to join a community that values diversity and equal opportunities and am excited about the potential to contribute positively to the future of the legal field.
