Are there any specific areas of the law that you are particularly interested in? If so, why? 

I have a keen interest in the employment law sector since I studied labour law in my second-year studies, where I’ve discovered that it’s the area of law that resonates with me the most and captivates my interest greatly. This dynamic field not only addresses a wide array of critical workplace issues but also continually adapts to the evolving dynamics of the modern workforce. From the challenges posed by emerging technologies in the hiring process to the innovative ways of structuring working hours, employment law remains at the forefront of shaping our workplaces. I am drawn to the opportunity to contribute my skills to assist employers or employees in navigating complex labour regulations and employment relations. 

Why did you choose to study law? 

What drove me to a career in law was a combination of diverse career prospects and intellectual stimulation. Throughout university and school, I have consistently been intrigued by understanding the mechanisms governing various life aspects; this drew me towards the legal field. My early engagement with a legal career, through participation in mock court cases at primary and secondary school, deeply resonated with me. Additionally, my first-hand exposure to the legal profession at [redacted] provided invaluable insights into the practical dimensions of a legal career. These experiences gave me a glimpse into the potential trajectories of studying law and solidified my intention to pursue a career in it. At university, the intricacies of legal theory and its real-world applications have continuously fuelled my growth and motivation for a legal career, and the analytical thinking and problem-solving skills demanded by legal studies have enhanced my enthusiasm for this traineeship path.

Please detail any positions of responsibility that you have held and what was required of you?

In my second year of university, I was a brand ambassador for [redacted] society. My role mainly involved creating content for social media and helping host speaker events such as [redacted]. Also, in my second year I was a fundraising leader for my society [redacted] where I was responsible for organising fundraising, raising awareness of the society to help [redacted]. This work I found incredibly rewarding and dedicating my time to [redacted]. 

What do you like to do in your spare time and are you a member of any clubs or teams?

Besides working and studies I enjoy taking part in sport such as dance, netball and football. I am part of a local running club and get out most weekends. At university, I am a member of the netball society and was part of their fundraising committee to help boost membership and engagement with the club, organising more training days and match play sessions for all levels.

I want to work for Aberdein Considine for a many reasons the main ones being its ambition, commitment to talent and supportive culture. The firms expansion, particularly in areas like the employment law team, is both impressive and exciting. I am genuinely inspired by the opportunity to apply to a firm that is on such an upward trajectory, and I am eager to become an integral part of its continued growth journey. Also, the culture of learning and professional growth in the firm aligns with my own aspirations to continually enhance my skills and knowledge in the legal field. I am confident that this firm is an ideal place for me to learn, contribute and excel in. I have cultivated a versatile and adaptable skill set which aligns seamlessly with a trainees role at Aberdein Considine. With over five years’ experience in the field of hospitality, coupled with academic foundation in law, extracurricular involvement, and leadership roles within university societies, I am well-equipped to excel in this role. These experiences have honed my customer service abilities as well as instilled in me a relentless work ethic, exceptional interpersonal skills and excelled organisational capabilities. These attributes are crucial in the legal profession, and I feel resonate with the multifaceted demands of an Aberdein Considine trainee.
